The beth home
All projects take time and nothing happens overnight. I will say our personal home has been a labor of love, but it’s opened so many opportunities for me. Dreaming of building a home some day was more than just a dream, I had a full vision of what I had in my mind from day one. I’m not really sure why it didn’t click before this period of how much I truly loved home design, but I’m glad it finally did. It felt somewhat organic to me, and kind of came naturally.
I spent many months designing our new build home from the ground up, and I will say, lacking resources around our area almost made the experience a “choose and pray it works out” type of situation. This is when I knew the industry needed to change in our area.
When designing our home I knew that windows were going to play a big part of our budget. Natural light is something that speaks to my heart. Living in the basement of my mother-in-laws home the first 3 years I knew my husband was no easy feat; and the lack of a windows really gave me a whole new appreciation. Fast forward to the first home we purchased, with the master being in the basement as well, selling and then moving back in with my mother-in-law while we were in the design and build process, you can see where I’m going here…I love light.
You could say my inspiration for our home coincided with the words; fresh, bright, inviting and functional. Each space was planned out so carefully for our lifestyle. These are details I want to help every single client think about.
For me, the kitchen needed to be the heart of the home. I love to bake, cook, host…you name it. With the functionality of it all, a walk in pantry and double oven were number one and two of things on my list that were non negotiable. One thing I love most about my pantry is having a window. There’s something about waking up on a spring and summer morning and looking out the window while making my coffee.
Like I stated before, every project takes time. We are still putting finishing touches on our home and upgrading builder grade items as time moves on. That’s what I think I love most about homes; they grow with you, and can always be changed.
I hope you enjoy these lovely photos of the place I call home. My favorite little corner of the world.
